Friends of the Norval Morris Project

Anyone who is interested in helping the field of corrections to become “more just, efficient, and humane” by furthering the innovative thinking and work of Dr. Norval Morris is welcome to join the Friends of the Norval Morris Project group.

Group members support the project by:

  • Dialoguing about Project questions and directions through online discussion forums,

  • Staying informed about Project progress and outcomes,

  • Reviewing project documents,

  • Sharing knowledge and advice about Project topics,

  • Referring Project staff to contacts who can provide assistance or further topic information, and

  • Helping to disseminate information about the Project and products that are ready for publication.

Through the online forum on NIC’s website, the Friends are currently discussing the topics of Corrections Workforce Transformation and Safely Reducing the Corrections Population, as well as the questions:

  • How can research be most useful to corrections?

  • How can corrections, as it is currently structured and practiced, be more evidence-based?

Who Are the Friends?
This group includes correctional administrators, thought leaders, and subject matter experts working on or interested in the Norval Morris Project and the topics it is exploring.
