ANNOTATION: This report examines three nationally prominent drug use studies, evaluating the methodological strengths and limitations of each. The General Accounting Office (GAO) examined the National Household Survey on Drug Abuse, the High School Senior Survey, and the Drug Use Forecasting Study. Additionally, in this report the GAO provides guidelines for improving drug prevalence estimates, focusing particularly on high-risk groups.
