Prison Inmates: Better Plans Needed Before Felons Are Released
Publication year:
1993
| Cataloged on:
Oct. 31, 2006
ANNOTATION: This study of the Bureau of Prisons' (BOP) prerelease planning was conducted to determine if BOP was providing release plans as required by a written agreement between BOP and the Probation and Pretrial Services Division. The focus was to determine if the prerelease plans contained sufficient information for probation officers to carry out court-ordered supervision of the inmates upon release. The results show that the BOP often is not providing timely nor complete release plans, which potentially could lead to problems for the inmate and the community.
