ANNOTATION: This document presents guidelines for reducing the risk of tuberculosis (TB) transmission in health-care facilities, including those in correctional facilities. Topics discussed include: risk assessment, infection control plans, management of TB patients, staff education and training, and staff counseling, screening and evaluation. Separate sections specifically address the following issues: diagnosis and treatment of TB patients; engineering controls like negative pressure (negative airflow); respiratory protection; and decontamination.
