ANNOTATION: A survey of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, and eight local jurisdictions, identified four jurisdictions in which correctional facility beds that are ready for occupancy are not yet in use due to a lack of funding. Three jurisdictions also reported previously operational bedspace that has been closed due to budgetary shortfalls. The report presents data on the specific facilities involved, their location, size, and security levels.
