ANNOTATION: Although the vendor performance of the two private prisons reviewed for this report was satisfactory during the 1996-1997 fiscal year, they are not providing the state with the seven percent cost savings initially projected. This document examines the costs and performance of the private contractors, and recommends that the Legislature authorize a renewal of its contracts, with certain modifications.
