Assessment of Sexually Transmitted Diseases Services in City and County Jails -- United States, 1997
Publication year:
1998
| Cataloged on:
Oct. 31, 2006
ANNOTATION: The findings in this report indicate that most facilities screened for sexually transmitted diseases (STD) based on symptoms or arrestee requests. To increase the numbers of arrestees diagnosed and treated for STDs and to improve the quality of the services delivered, it is recommended that more routine testing be implemented. Many STDs, including gonorrhea and syphilis, can be asymptomatic and can only be detected through routine screening.
