ANNOTATION: In this article, several aspects of the United States juvenile justice system are criticized. First, the report contends that the United States resists a commitment to international human rights standards. Other issues discussed are the excessive use of incarceration, cruel use of force and restraints, solitary confinement, lack of separation from adults, length of time before trial, and inadequate services for children with mental health problems.
