Policies on Good Time and the Effects on Sentencing Policies: History and Survey Results

Publication year: 1998 | Cataloged on: Oct. 31, 2006
ANNOTATION: In 1995, the Montana Legislature passed into law House Bill No. 356 which made the time a prisoner would actually serve more apparent. The bill also eliminated good time credits altogether. In addition to a summary of recent good time policy in Montana, this report presents the findings of a survey "conducted to ascertain whether sentencing recommendations or sentencing practices have changed or will change in response to the elimination of good time (p.1)."
