Cruelty in Control? The Stun Belt and Other Electro-Shock Equipment in Law Enforcement
Publication year:
1999
| Cataloged on:
Oct. 31, 2006
ANNOTATION: The issues surrounding inhumane treatment and the use of electro-shock stun equipment, in particular stun belts, is addressed by this publication. Electro-shock stun equipment can be easily abused by unscrupulous law enforcement officials due to the weapons' portability, ease of use, and potential to inflict severe pain without leaving any substantial visible marks on the human body. The document presents evidence to support the banning of stun belts and the need for rigorous, independent, and impartial safety testing of all electro-shock weapons.
