ANNOTATION: Basic information about designing, assessing, and improving the operation of a negative pressure (negative airflow) isolation room is provided. Topics of this practice-based guideline include: an introduction to engineering controls against tuberculosis transmission; guidelines and regulations of various organizations; design of a new state-of-the-art isolation room; assessing an existing isolation room; and upgrading an existing isolation room or converting another room.
