The Economics of Implementing Intensive In-prison Sex-offender Treatment Programs
Publication year:
1999
| Cataloged on:
Oct. 31, 2006
ANNOTATION: The population studied was male child molesters. The authors estimate that if a prison treatment program can reduce recidivism by 14%, an economic gain of $39,870 per prisoner could be achieved. Since intangible costs of child sex abuse are estimated to be ten times the dollar value of tangible costs, the economic benefits realized by the use of appropriate treatment programs can be highly substantial.
