ANNOTATION: A statistical overview of case processing in the federal criminal justice system is presented. The six comprising this document cover the major federal processing stages: prosecution, pretrial release, adjudication, sentencing, appeals, and corrections. Chapter notes describe the data used in the tables and information relevant to the interpretation of individual tables. Also included are a description of the methodology used in analyzing data and developing tables and a glossary of terms used in the Compendium.
