The Color of Justice: An Analysis of Juvenile Court Transfers in California
Publication year:
2000
| Cataloged on:
Oct. 31, 2006
ANNOTATION: Just like other studies on racial and ethnic disparity, this study reveals serious imbalances in the criminal justice system. Specifically, the transfer of youths to adult courts and sentencing to California Youth Authority (CYA) facilities were analyzed. Results show that minority youths are 8.3 times more likely than white youths to be sentenced by an adult court to imprisonment in a CYA facility.
