ANNOTATION: A summary and presentation of recent trends involving young female offenders in Canada is provided. The mean age for female youth getting involved with crime has remained stable at 15 years old. The national rate of violent crime increased slightly among female youth from 38 per 10,000 to 47 per 10,000. Nationally, there was an increase in probation, open custody and secure custody for female youth. Very few females (20) were transferred to adult court.
