ANNOTATION: Information regarding the federal death penalty system since the enactment of the first modern capital punishment statute in 1988 is presented. Parts of this text include: statistical overview; the U.S. Attorneys; the Review Committee; the Attorney General; post-authorization activity; and agreements and disagreements in the federal decision-making process for deciding whether to seek the death penalty in individual cases. The bulk of this document (383 pages) presents statistical tables organized according to and support the particular parts noted above.
