Publication year:

| Cataloged on:
Oct. 31, 2006
ANNOTATION: With the number of incarcerated women in the U.S. growing at a rate greater than that for men, there is an increasing need for attention to gender-specific health issues. In addition to describing the characteristics of incarcerated women, this report discusses: standards for health services, significant health care concerns; identifying areas for improvement; Federal resources specific to substance abuse and treatment available to states as formula grants; programs for women; potential public health agencies'/maternal and child health (MCH) professionals' roles; and corrections-related websites.
