Publication year:
2000

ANNOTATION: These papers are "especially timely" due to the dramatic increase in the number of female offenders. "The writers amply demonstrate that women and girls who are caught up in the justice system enter it as a result of circumstances distinctly different from those of men, and so find themselves at a distinct disadvantage" (p. iii). Papers herein include: "Exploring the Link Between Violence Against Women and Women's Involvement in Illegal Activity" by Beth E. Richie; "One Judicial Perspective on the Sex Trade" by Kay Tsenin; and "Childhood Victimization and the Derailment of Girls and Women to the Criminal Justice System" by Cathy Spatz Widom.
