ANNOTATION: Inmate participation in a variety of programs involving dogs is described. Programs highlighted include: Disability Dog program in cooperation with Kansas Specialty Dog Services (KSDS); Kennel Program with Helping Hands Humane Society of Topeka; Second Chance Dog Program with local animal shelters; dog socializing and training for the Canine Assistance Rehabilitation Education and Services Inc. (C.A.R.E.S.) and the TLC Greyhound Adoption Agency; and the Best Chance Dog Rescue Program with the Great Bend Humane Society. Inmates provide training support and help improve a dog's chances of being adopted.
