Pennsylvania's Motivational Boot Camp: 2000 Report to the Legislature

ANNOTATION: A description of the boot camp program, offender demographic information, and program recidivism rates are provided. This report contains the following parts: executive summary; introduction and overview; admissions and graduations; characteristics of boot camp offenders; and the recidivism study. Appendixes include: impact of boot camp eligibility criteria; characteristics of offenders by year; review of previous research on boot camps; and a sample of the Boot Camp Offender Survey. This program had a successful completion rate of 80%. There was no significant difference between the recidivism rate for those who went to boot camp and those who went to prison.
