An In-Depth Analysis of the Use of Progressive Sanction Guidelines in 1999
Publication year:
2001
| Cataloged on:
Oct. 31, 2006
ANNOTATION: Findings from an examination of 1999 juvenile dispositions to see how guideline recommendations and sanctions were applied are presented. This report is divided into five parts: introduction; general guideline deviations; fit to the guidelines; deviations by characteristics; and comparison of 1997 and 1999 guideline recommendations. Fifty-six percent of the cases were disposed outside the guideline recommendations. Of those juveniles recommended to the least severe guideline level, 83% were disposed according to the guidelines, while only 37% of those who received the most severe recommendation were disposed to that sanction.
