ANNOTATION: The state portion of public spending for health care is reported. Sections of this publication include: executive summary; state health care spending for Medicaid, the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), state employees' health benefits, corrections, higher education, state insurance and access expansion, public health-related expenditures, state facility-based services, and community based services; guide to the tables; spending by region; explanatory notes submitted by particular states (by region); individual state profiles by region; and additional resources. Of total state budgets, correctional health care spending was 0.3%, or 1.2% of total state health care expenditures.
