ANNOTATION: Reducing the rate of maladaptive behavior while increasing the rate of adaptive behaviors through the use of systematic contingency management and written behavior plans are investigated. Context, method, results, and discussion are included in this paper. No behavior plan participants have been returned to the Intensive Management Unit (IMU, a supermax unit) in the year since the program commenced, while the return rate for non-participants is 25%.
