ANNOTATION: Information of benefit to those making purchasing and deployment decisions regarding criminal justice technologies is presented. Nineteen technologies are highlighted: protective equipment, restraint systems, firearms, less-than-lethal weapons, pursuit management, surveillance, offender monitoring/officer location, concealed weapon and contraband detection, explosives detection and remediation, chemical and biological defense, transportation infrastructure security, communications interoperability, biometric identification, information sharing and analysis, crime mapping, electronic crime/cybercrime, crime laboratory assistance, forensic technology research and development, and investigative science. The discussion of each technology comprises its own chapter containing the following sections: potential funding sources; standards and testing; research and development efforts; and sources of further information.
