ANNOTATION: The problem of gassing -- the intentional "placing or throwing, or causing to be thrown, upon the person on another, any mixture of human excrement or other bodily fluids or substances" in correctional facilities in California is examined (p. 1). In addition to an executive summary, this report has sections about methodology, findings, conclusions, and recommendations. While gassing incidents occur, there has been no substantial harm experienced by correctional employees. This form of assault is also known as sliming.
