ANNOTATION: Mandates regarding internal affairs that must be implemented by every law enforcement agency in New Jersey are delineated. This policy is comprised of the following sections: introduction; fundamentals of the disciplinary process; internal affairs unit; accepting reports of officer misconduct; investigation of internal complaints; internal affairs investigation procedures; interviewing members of the department; internal affairs records; and risk management procedures. Samples of pertinent forms used in an internal affairs unit are included.
