ANNOTATION: A review of "currently available data on changes in characteristics of prisoner releases, correctional responses, and community capacity to absorb returning prisoners" is provided (p. 5). Sections comprising this paper include: executive summary; introduction; changes in reentry populations; annual releases as the reentry population; the parole population as the reentry population; returning to communities; and summary and implications. While the size of the returning inmate and parole populations has grown, funding for supervision has not kept up.
