Impact of Inmate Participation in Chaplaincy Programs

ANNOTATION: Results from a study on inmate participation rates for religious programming are provided. This report has the following sections: memo from Chaplaincy Services Administrator; executive summary; introduction; details; chapel tracking; July, August, and September tracking by region; percentage of inmate participation by region; August 2001 inmate participation by institution type; institutional adjustment disciplinary report frequency; July, August, and September institutional adjustment; statewide measurement of disciplinary reports per 1,000 inmates; statewide participation by program type; and conclusions. Participation of inmates in chaplaincy institutional programs was 38%. One important observation made is that the disciplinary report (DR) rate was lower for those individuals attending chapel.
