ANNOTATION: The identification of the following main risk factors (among others) associated with increased potential for causing harm is explained: previous offending, being male, unemployment, drug and alcohol abuse, family background, and mental disorder. Sections of this review include: executive summary; introduction; violent offending; domestic violence offending; stalking; sex offending; arson; risk of suicide and self-harm among offenders; and proactive factors for offenders at risk of causing serious harm.
