This initiative provides funding for services to an additional 4% of the mentally ill offender population (4,297 individuals). A supervision and treatment model that will be tested for effectiveness and possible expansion is also a part of this initiative. The primary goal of the initiative is to reduce the recidivism rate of mentally ill offenders by providing them with additional mental health services.
