ANNOTATION: An overview of this two phase study is presented. The following sections are included: background; Phase I case studies (concerning Escambia County and Jackson County drug courts) and lessons learned; Phase I recidivism impact evaluation, in which it is observed that recidivism over two years was reduced from 40% to 12% in Escambia County and 50% to 35% in Jackson County; Phase II program retention models noting graduation rates of 27% in Jackson County and 49% in Escambia County; and discussion.
