ANNOTATION: Checklists for monitoring the jail planning process and for reviewing a jail plan are provided. Five phases are tracked in the planning process: pre-architectural planning; site selection and planning; architectural design; construction completion; and occupancy. The jail plan review checklist is comprised of eight parts: site analysis and selection; design and supervision/surveillance; admission and classification; housing area; services, programs, and activities; security of facility; administrative functions; and emergency provisions.
