ANNOTATION: An overview of a study regarding drug detection technologies in prison mailrooms is presented. This article addresses: drug interdiction in a prison mailroom; drug detection technologies; and the evaluation of drug detection systems. The technology survey was conducted by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) and the Department of Defense's (DOD) Counterdrug Technology Development Program Office (CDTDPO).
