An Analysis of Gang Members and Non-Gang Members Discharged From Probation

ANNOTATION: Data collected for the 2000 Illinois Probation Outcome Study are analyzed and commented on. Sections of this report include: offender characteristics; types of offenses; sentence conditions; probation outcomes; outcome category percentages; cumulative percent rearrested since sentenced to probation; effect of gang membership on recidivism; and conclusions. Non-gang members were nearly 3.5 times less likely to be rearrested while on probation than gang members.
