ANNOTATION: Target 10 entails the reduction of the "rate of re-convictions of all offenders punished by imprisonment or by community supervision by 5% by 2004 compared to the predicted rate" (p. 1). This National Statistics release reports on the progress made with Target 10. Using the baseline 2-year reconviction rate for 1997, the total Target reconviction rate was reduced 3.2%. The prison reconviction rate is down 3.3%, while the community penalties reconviction rate is down 3.1%.
