ANNOTATION: A guide for conducting effective problem analysis is presented. Sections contained in this document include: introduction; creating the foundation for analysis; analysis tools for problem solving (e.g., police department data, designing and conducting surveys, focus groups, interviews, environmental surveys/CPTED, observations, mapping, and other data sources); other issues to consider in analysis, such as the role of community partners in analysis, reporting of analysis results, and transition to response; and summary and challenges.
