ANNOTATION: Pre-court attitudes and post-court recidivism are evaluated for the Anchorage Youth Court (AL), Maricopa County teen court (AZ), Montgomery County Teen Court (MD), and the Independence Youth Court (MO). The following sections comprise this report: introduction; teen courts in the U.S.; the teen court process; what makes teen court effective?; design of the ETC (Evaluation of Teen Courts) Project; the teen courts programs; outcome comparisons; data collection; results; interpretation of results; and conclusion. While all of the sites experienced lower recidivism rates than control groups, only Alaska's and Missouri's rates achieved statistical significance.
