ANNOTATION: The level of methodological adequacy exhibited in federally funded criminal justice program outcome evaluations is investigated. Two observations from this report include: most of the reviewed evaluations is investigated. Two observations from this report include: most of the reviewed evaluations could not produce sufficiently sound information on program outcomes; and completed evaluations produced useful information on processes but not on outcomes. Also provided are summaries of the 15 NIJ outcome evaluations reviewed.
