ANNOTATION: The effectiveness of the Correctional Services Accreditation Panel to offer treatment programs that reduce recidivism is determined. The following six sections and an executive summary comprise this report: introduction; research brief and methodology; role and organization of the Panel; accrediting programmes; other contributions to "What Works"; and future directions. The Panel has accredited 15 programs at six meetings over tow years, with a cost of 25,000 to 30,000 pounds sterling per program.
