ANNOTATION: The impact of prison-based treatment programming on prisoner misconduct and post-release recidivism is examined. This report is comprised of the following sections: abstract; introduction; method and procedure; results according to effect size/study characteristics, treatment type effect on misconduct, design strength, therapeutic integrity, comparison of criminogenic needs targeted, recidivism outcomes, and supplementary analyses; and discussion. Statistically significant reductions in misconduct and recidivism resulted from the utilization of behavioral treatment programs.
