Publication year:
2004
| Cataloged on:
Oct. 31, 2006
ANNOTATION: Access to material regarding the inadequacies and injustices of the U.S. criminal justice system and its correctional facilities can be found at this website. Points of entry include press releases, fact sheet, reports and recommendations, about the commission, and audio/visual material. Of particular interest are reports and recommendations about: punishment, incarceration, and sentencing; racial disparity in the criminal justice system; clemency, sentence reduction, and restoration of rights; and prison conditions and prisoner reentry. This commission concludes that incarceration is relied on too heavily, resulting in a broken criminal justice system in need of more effective alternatives.
