ANNOTATION: Answers to follow-up questions for a 2002 report by the District of Columbia's Office of the Inspector General are provided. This report addresses: health and safety deficiencies at the jail and correctional treatment facility; capital improvement projects at the jail -- one complete with 15 in various stages; and the Department of Correction has taken steps to improve inmate records, but effects on reducing release errors are difficult to determine.
