Your Return on a Safer Tomorrow . . . The Potential Cost Savings from Further Investment in Videoconferencing Technology within Wisconsin's Justice Community

ANNOTATION: Results from a cost-benefit analysis of videoconference technology are provided. Following an executive summary, this report is comprised of five sections: the benefits of videoconferencing; county-level investment; quantifying county-level cost savings; the cost-benefit analysis and conclusions/action plan. Transport expenses for non-evidentiary court proceedings (27% of total transport expenses) would be saved by videoconferencing, while 18% of expert witness testimony expenses would be saved. The state would see a return on investment rate of 159% the first year of videoconference technology implementation.
