ANNOTATION: Results from a "phenomenological study . . . to determine the characteristics of an inmate leader" are provided (p. 2). Five chapters follow an abstract: introduction to and overview of this study; review of the literature; research methodology; data analysis according to the benefits of groups, internal factors of leadership (e.g., prison gang leader traits, inmate non-gang leader traits, and free-world leader traits as defined by inmates), external factors of leadership, inclusive inmate related factors, convict versus inmate terminology, and prisonization; and findings and recommendations for further research.
