Factors Associated with Effective Practice in Approved Premises: A Literature Review

Publication year: 2004 | Cataloged on: Oct. 31, 2006
ANNOTATION: The most relevant research related to Approved Premises, previously called bail and probation hostels, is reviewed. Five sections follow an executive summary: introduction and context; premises in reducing reoffending; the role of Approved Premises in risk-management and public protection; working with different categories of residents in Approved Premises; and conclusions. "The extended degree of contact, influence and supervision [Approved Premises] can achieve in the lives of offenders who are still in the community puts them in a position to do more intensive, and sometimes innovative, work and to lead the way in demonstrating good practice" (p. viii).
