Religion, Reform, Community: Examining the Idea of Church-Based Prisoner Reentry
Publication year:
2002
| Cataloged on:
Oct. 31, 2006
ANNOTATION: "[T]wo apparent assumptions underlying current discussions about church-based prisoner reentry programs" are examined (p. 2). The first assumption is that churches are ideally suited to effect "permanent behavior change" in ex-offenders. Secondly, churches are assumed to be "open communities" willing and able to serve nonmembers and members alike while also being involved in the neighborhoods in which they are physically located.
