ANNOTATION: Community placement and treatment of sexual offenders in California are investigated. This report covers: how states manage sexual predators -- an overview of procedures and treatment; other state approaches to specialized sex offender treatment, community supervision, and community notification (e.g., Connecticut, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Texas, and Vermont); the role of local probation, parole, and treatment professionals in sex offender management and supervision; strategies used by California state agencies in the management and post-release supervision of sex offenders; and legislative and administrative options.
