ANNOTATION: The average length of court sentence for adult men in Canada is examined. This report is comprised of the following sections: executive summary; introduction; methodology; are men being charged and sentenced to prison?; are prison sentences getting longer?; what about cases with a federal sentence?; regional variations in court sentencing; factors impacting on the length of prison sentence; and summary and conclusions. While more men are sentenced to federal prison terms, mean sentence length has decreased.
