ANNOTATION: The positions the National District Attorneys Association takes on various issues related to prisoner reentry are explained. Eight sections comprise this document: introduction -- striking a balance between public safety and the reentry and reintegration of offenders; victim reentry issues; pre-release phase (institutional and transitional phases; offender reentry obstacles -- lack of education, unmet health needs and lack of services and support upon release; post-release phase (transitional and long-term phases) -- community involvement; consequences of probation/parole violations; innovative methods for addressing reintegration issues; collateral sanctions; and funding.
