ANNOTATION: The use of biometrics to improve the tracking of inmate movements in a prison or jail is examined. Topics discussed include: what biometrics is; identifying inmates; tracking inmates; evaluating the project; and next steps. The computer tracking system reduced the time to notice an out-of-place prisoner from 45 minutes to 17 minutes.
